About Dave
Experience from the counseling room - and from life
School and work
I graduated from Hamilton College with a major in Comparative Religion in 1990. I then worked in human services for five years, doing direct-care work with adults living with mental illness and developmental disabilities, before returning to school for my MBA at Syracuse University.
I went on to work in upper management for small and medium-sized companies, most recently as CEO of Webucator, a national training company headquartered in Upstate New York, where I worked from 2009 to 2022.
Throughout my adult life, I remained interested in mental health. Over time, it became increasingly clear that I wanted to return to the field. In July 2024, I graduated from Le Moyne College with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
I currently work primarily for Mind Trove, LLC at its Syracuse office.
Teaching
I am an adjunct professor in Le Moyne College’s Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, where I teach graduate courses in diagnosis and treatment planning and in co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
Volunteer service
I serve as Chairman of the Board of the Montessori School of Syracuse and Chair of the Finance Committee on the board of FEAST (Families Empowered And Supporting Treatment for Eating Disorders).
A personal connection
My oldest daughter developed anorexia at age 10. Since then, eating disorders have been a big part of my life in many ways. I regularly speak with other parents going through what our family experienced, serve on the FEAST board, and wrote Love, Crowd Out, Forgive, Accept: A Guide to Supporting a Loved One with Anorexia.
